Round 2 models send us their newsletter pretty much every month - there is always some pretty interesting stuff in there to suit most modeller's tastes especially hot cars and retro kits - with a little bit of sci-fi thrown in who could ask for more? Lets have a look at what the guys have in store and in preparation for us this month...

The Kats
at AMT team up with Dirty Donny to create a Two-Headed Monster...
it's TWO
MUCH!
Halloween
is quite a ways off, but we wanted to "spring" one of our secret
projects on you modelers, especially those who love all the cool monster kits
that were available back in the golden era of modeling. The Kats at AMT have an
exclusive licensing deal with one of the coolest up-and-coming custom culture
artists on the scene today: "Dirty Donny" Gillies! Donny has done
everything from painting crazy murals and pinstriping mod guitars and pianos
for Metallica, to creating mind-blowing artwork for customized pinball
machines! Donny's got a funky flair for creating artwork that harkens back to
those fun times of yesteryear, where everybody was cutting grass to earn money
to buy their next awesome monster model kit!
This
krazy kit will "kick off" in 2013 and here's where it's going to
knock it out of the ballpark: the sculpt. Some of the old custom monster kits
made by the "other guys" back in the day looked nifty on the box art,
but were sadly lacking in execution on the plastic parts. AMT's Two Much
Monster kit looks as good in plastic as it does in Donny's wild box art
illustration, and we'll prove it to you! We've got a sculpt of Two Much, the
first Kustom Kreature, straight from Donny's secret lab and we're going to have
him (or should we say "hims") on display for you to see - at
WONDERFEST! Come out and marvel in the awe of the spectacular sculpt and show
us your support for this exciting new initiative in totally fun model kits!
It's another way AMT is expanding its product offerings to include many
different types of models.
Other
differences that will set AMT's Two Much kit apart from the rest? How about
loads of optional decals with artwork all created by Dirty Donny himself to
match the monster perfectly! Many different demented designs will be included
so you can build a Kustom Kreature that is truly your own. How about a radical
display base with extra details like tombstones and a half-buried skateboard
for value-added excitement? Real chain for the monster's mace ball? Eyeball
jewels in multiple optional translucent colours? This pumpkin-carrying candy
masher has got it ALL!
Show AMT
your support for the Dirty Donny "Two Much" monster and let's build
something FUN!
Sci-fi
and figure modellers everywhere are scrambling to finish their entries for the
annual sci-fi modelling contest at Wonderfest and it is no different for us here
at Round 2 Models. The show is being held May 26 & 27th in Louisville, KY
and we have our work cut out for us as we prepare. We won’t be entering the
contest, but we are sponsoring a couple model contest awards this year and that
is just the beginning of the fun!
On top of
that, we will have our usual display of product, our annual modelling survey and
have a special little give-away. But wait, there’s more…
First
test shots of our new 1:350 scale TOS U.S.S. Enterprise will be fresh off the
press and we will be making two available to the public at the show. Members of
the 1701 Club that attend the show can enter a drawing for one set. The second
set will be available to anyone through the show’s silent auction. Take home an
Enterprise before anyone else and support a great charity at the same time! But
that’s not all…
Come to
our presentation at 12 noon on Saturday to hear about the progress of the big
E, be the first to hear about other new kits coming by the end of 2012 and find
out how you can help us decide the next new kit we will put into development.
That’s right, the crowd in attendance at our presentation will have an
opportunity to help us decide what brand new kit will be added to our 2013
release list!
We look
forward to seeing you there!

I've
been hinting at new Round 2 model kit product announcements from time
to time. I don't take any joy in being coy or secretive. I'd rather let
you guys know what we are up to, but history has shown we are better
holding off on announcing development plans until we have something
substantive to show for it. Generally, we like to hold off on making
most of our major announcements for shows like Wonderfest or iHobby
where we can see your immediate reactions. Wonderfest is just around the
corner (May 26 & 27) and we can't wait to reveal some pretty
exciting plans for later this year. We've decided to let one small titbit out now to give you a taste of things to come. [ Read the rest at the Round 2 Models blog! ]
![]() The Transporter is a grand size for a 1/25 scale kit. So much so, we're not sure how MPC managed to stuff all those big parts into their standard box size, back in the day. To make sure the parts don't get compromised in our planned reissue, we're going to release the kit in a slightly larger box (the same size as our 1/25 monster trucks.) This extra room will also allow us to include two sets of window parts! One set will be clear, the other tinted light blue, offering you an easy way to give your build a truly custom look! We're going to mould the kit in white instead of red as it was originally. It will have lots of gleaming chrome parts, hollow black vinyl tires and colourful water-release colour decals. Did you think you'd ever see this one again? We are very pleased to announce that it will indeed be available once more, this year! It's kit number MPC787. Get your paint and cement ready, then look for it at the beginning of fall at your favourite hobby dealer and start haulin'! [ Check out other great MPC kits! ] If your kit is selected, in exchange for your kit we will send you a $100 store credit at Auto World and an exact replacement kit. Your name will be featured on a nameplate with the car display. Finally, you will be featured as the "Model of the Month" on our website. To be considered, we ask that you send close-up shots (fill screen) of your kit; Please include these 9 shots at a minimum - front straight on, both sides, ¾ front, back straight on, ¾ back, top, bottom and detailed interior. All the rest of the details will be available on our round2models.com website and through an email update by mid-April.
