Tamiya have surprised many fans and delighted many more by announcing their release of the new 48th scale McDonnell Douglas F-4B Phantom II, kit number 121. Today we have updates on the earlier release info of the text kit what was shown. What we really need is what the kit looks like in bare plastic and some colour scheme options - and Tamiya has delivered!
The blurb from Tamiya: "F-4 Phantom II, a masterpiece jet fighter adopted by the US Navy and Air Force and operated around the world. Among them, the first mass-produced Navy type F-4B will be added to the series. Based on in-depth research, the exquisite outline and cross-sectional shape of the actual machine are accurately reproduced."
We have photos of the sprues from Tamiya, with the early "B" model Phantom and weapons to suit the earlier "Duble Ugly" jets included. Here are the sprues for the kit...
What we know about some of the features of this kit:
- The canopy can be opened and closed, and the outer wing can be assembled by selecting the folded / unfolded state.
- The horizontal stabilizer moves in conjunction with the left and right.
- Missiles and drop tanks for the "B" model era are included.
-A set of 2 pilot dolls and 3 types of markings of the MiG killer who participated in the Vietnam War.
The kit in a finished test form is on display at the industry only (😢) Shizuoka Hobby Square show this year.
That is all we know about this new kits for now - more on them when we get the "dope" - You can see more of Tamiya's kits on their website...
