This month from Mantis Miniatures there is a new 35th scale set of two figures, with animals and accessories to match up with AK Interactive's recent CUCV pickup trucks. These sets are on sale now, and the figures & fauna match them nicely.

AK Interactive's recent military CUCV trucks look just as great used as civilian Chevys...

Artur Miniszewski's idea with this new set and pair of accessory sets was to create a civilian version of this 1986 Chevrolet/D30 M1028FF one-1/4-tonne pickup that was originally configured as a military fire truck and was later modified for off-road use. This was kitted recently by AK Interactive, and it has gained a lot of attention, especially in the United States, its country of origin.

Some examples of this truck in civilian use...

The Chevy pickup and the figures are to emphasise the style of the (stereotypical, we must point out) redneck young man and woman. This is a bit of a caricature and designed with a sense of humour for the modeller to push further. The accompanying set of animals that have been hunted can be placed in the back of the truck (with an alligator, of course!), as well as hunting and fishing accessories. The photos that inspired these sculptures are included in the preview...

This southern babe is seen maybe just about to carve up dinner? A chainsaw in hand, maybe they need to carve up that 'gator they just caught? In her daisy dukes, cowboy hat and overalls, she is seen here looking every bit the stereotypical vision of a good ol' gal from way down south... 

An overexaggerated reference like this one was used in conceiving this sculpture.

This young man is seen in all his mulleted glory, locks flowing, rifle over his shoulder, trucker's cap swillin' a Bud. Every stereotype is there, but the sculptor is clearly having fun with these figures, and I think he wants the modeller to have fun too. A good but overexaggerated reference below was one used for this sculpt.

Arthur looked for inspiration in shots like this one below, where a packed-out Chevy truck and a couple of scaly passengers in the back, the truck also packed with fishing and shooting gear. With those eskies, it looks like a good weekend!

A gator or a bick, your choice. This set of animals also includes two pheasants and a jackrabbit—whatever you want your owners to capture.

The idea of this set was to set up a sweet redneck ride with all of the prerequisites that need to be ticked off for authenticity. Something like this beast of a machine down below really fit the bill...

The Confederate flag, a neat Chevy badge, some spotlights—with mesh covers if you like—a roof rack, and two pairs of horns, one for the top of the car and the other attached to a bullock's skull, are supplied in this set. Really handy for enhancing and capturing the redneck chic that you might want to add to this set. These are designed to suit the civilian M1028 CUCV/Chevy pickup.
