Landscape Productions bring you Thunderbolts & Indians in this Preview

"Landscape"Publications because of the orientation of their books? lets find out in this preview of their first title -  Profile Hanger No1. Which looks into the use of the American Indian artwork on WWI & II aircraft from all round the world as well as the P-47 Thunderbolts from the 19th FS over Saipan.

Landscape Publications have made their début with the first in a series of publications that feature aircraft profile artwork called “Profile Hangar”  These books are the dreamchild of well know aviation art expert Thierry Dekker and with support from such people as Erik Mombeeck and Neil Page this series of books does remind me of the kind of good quality of the Luftwaffe Gallery (Lu/Ga) series of books by Eric Mombeeck. This is a very good thing!!

This first publication is a sixty four page book in landscape format mainly concerned with two subjects. The first being the Usage of American Indian emblems and artwork on aircraft in the two world wars. This part shows artwork of the aircraft and several profiles and underneath views as well as period pictures of the aircraft when available.

A total of 59 profile artworks, of which 47 depict nose art. Ten different aircraft types including P-51, P-40,P-47, Hurricane, Spitfire, Typhoon, Curtiss H-75, Fw 190, Spad XIII, Hellcat are included

The second part of this publication features artwork and pictures of the P-47 Thunderbolt fighters from the 19th Fighter Squadron in the Saipan Islands in the Pacific during World War II.

I for one am looking forward to this book as i am a massive fan of both these great Indian artworks and of course of the P-47 thunderbolt. Hopefully Thierry can find a decal maker to make some of these into real life models soon enough - sign me up for a 1/32 "Little chief"!
