F-15C EAGLE

The Mc Donnel Douglas F-15 is an all-weather single seat American fighter, developed with the specific goal to gain and maintain air superiority. The F-15 Eagle has been designed during the ‘70s to provide to U.S. Air Force a modern and extremely high-performance advanced fighter.

The F-15C is representing the more modern version and it is nowadays largely used by U.S. Air Force, U.S. National Guard, and by the Air Forces of several Countries as Japan, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. The F-15 took part in the Gulf War in 1991 and it was able to guarantee the air superiority to Coalition Forces. It has been the most effective fighters with an impressively high number of enemy planes shot down. Armed with a 20mm. M61 gun it can use a wide variety of air-to-air missiles. Thanks to the two powerful Pratt & Whitney F-100 after-burring turbofans engines, the “Eagle” is able to reach the maximum speed of Mach 2.5

The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was developed in the 1950s and was one of the most famous light attack aircraft in the aviation history. Its small and compact dimensions made it extremely maneuverable and ideal for use on the aircraft carriers. It was characterized by the low-mounted delta wing solution, the two small air intakes on the fuselage sides, and the adoption of the single Pratt & Whitney J52 turbojet engine.

It was armed with two 20 mm. guns and, thanks to its hard points under the wings and under the fuselage the Skyhawk was able to support a wide variety of air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface missiles, rockets and bombs. Thanks to its operational capabilities, the A-4 scored a good commercial success and has been adopted by several air arms around the world. In addition to the United States, it was used, among others, by Australia, New Zealand, Kuwait and Israel.

Developed by the American aircraft company McDonnell Douglas, the F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, all-weather, supersonic fighter-bomber. It entered service during the sixties and it is one of the most famous aeroplanes of the military aviation history. In the original project, it was specifically designed for U.S. Navy but it has been used by all U.S. forces and it obtained a significant commercial success around the World.

The original version designed for the US Navy was further improved in 1966 with the production start-up of the Phantom F-4J, characterized by the adoption of new systems able to enhance the air-to-air and ground-attack combat capabilities. The avionic was significantly improved and the innovative fire control system for look-down / shoot-down capability was adopted. Thanks to its two upgraded General Electric J-79-10 powerful jet-engines the Phantom was able to reach the top speed of 1,240 Knots. Speed, thrust and reliability were the Phantom II strengths able to successfully counterbalance the reduced maneuverability due to its big dimension.

The M113 is one of the most famous armoured personnel carrier in the history of military vehicles. It has a “fully tracked” layout and it entered in service at the beginning of the ‘60s. The M113 was the most widely used armoured vehicle of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War. On the M113 hull was developed the self-propelled anti-aircraft gun M163 VADS (Vulcan Air Defense System).

The M163 adopted the General Dynamics 20 mm. M61 Vulcan rotary cannon, installed in a small turret above the hull, and a radar system for the control of the fire. The M163 was designed to complement the M48 Chaparral missile system and to provide the highest level of anti-aircraft and anti-helicopter defence to the ground troops. The huge firepower of its 20 mm gun could however also be used, with devastating effects, against terrestrial targets. The M163 was mainly used by the United States Army and it is still used today by many Countries.

The 313th Gruppo Addestramento Acrobatico of the Italian Air Force, better known as Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale "Frecce Tricolori”, is based at the airport of Rivolto, in the northern part of Italy. The “313th” was officially born in 1961 as a very professional and highly specialized acrobatic unit with the purpose to represent, all over the World, the Italian Air Force.

At the beginning the team has been equipped with the Canadair CL-13 "Sabre" and, after few years it has been replaced by the glorious Fiat G-91 PAN. Today the “Frecce Tricolori” flies the two-seat fighter-trainer Aermacchi MB 339 A and it is the biggest team, with more than 10 aeroplanes. In the event of 55th Anniversary from the date of its foundation, on 2016, the MB-339 was painted with a dedicated commemorative livery to point out the history and the tradition of an Italian symbol appreciate all over the World.
