The F-4E Phantom II, in service with the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) is an upgraded version through the Avionics Upgrade Programme (AUP). The AUP modernisation effort, which began in 1972. The upgrade included the delivery of 36 F-4E jets under the "Peace Icarus I" programme, followed by a second contract ("Peace Icarus II") for 18 more F-4Es and eight RF-4Es.
These jets are equipped with the TISEO (Target Identification Sensor Electro-Optical) and are flown by squadrons like 337 Mira 'Ghost' and 348 Mira 'Eyes.'
