Sonderanhänger Ost 1.5t German Cargo Trailer
From MiniArt Models
Kit No: 35487
1/35th scale
The kit contains four marking choices in the box.
The Subject:
Designed to serve behind the Steyr RSO, special two-axle trailers were developed. Made with a steel chassis and frame with wooden sides and wheels that were made of steel with rubber around the rim. These trailers served many different objectives in late WWII. They had a payload of 1.5 tonnes, and while initially they were used for cargo, these were loaded with anything that would serve on them.
These trailers were steered with the two front wheels being able to be turned and the triangular front frame being the pivot point. On some of these, large shields underneath the axles were used to displace the mud and snow that these trailers were pulled through.
Although this model had large steel wheels, several were made with waggon and truck wheels in place of these.
The trailer was very simply constructed. It was manufactured by several manufacturers. It could be towed by similar slow vehicles, too.

The kit: 1/35th scale Sonderanhänger Ost 1.5t German Cargo Trailer from MiniArt Models.
The kit is of a simple plastic construction, with only three sprues in the set along with instructions and decals.

Sprue layout in CAD
Some views of the CADs we have so far. These show the two variations of rear sides, either extended or lowered; it is up to the modeller's choice here.
The large steel-and rubber-rimmed wheels dominate this trailer. We suspect, like the Germans, this trailer will come out with different wheel choices.
You can see the higher and lower sides of tray here in these CADS below
You have the option to include or leave off the large shields underneath the axles that were used to displace the mud and snow that these trailers were pulled through.
The waggon sides can be dropped or left off altogether if you like.

Sonderanhänger Ost 1.5t German Cargo Trailer Marking choices & decals
There are four marking versions on one decal sheet included with the instructions. These are mostly in Dunkelgelb, with one that has whitewash over that. All from the 1943-1945 period.
Stencil & unit marking choices are included on the decals

That is all we know about this kit so far. See more about all of MiniArt's kits on their website...
