New aftermarket company RocKit Studio, concentrating on 3D-printed solutions for popular kits, is committed to providing upgrade solutions for your models. We have already seen some 32nd scale Ho 229 & F-18E aftermarket, but today we are looking at two new sets for the Uma Model AV-8B kit in 48th scale...
AV-8B SJU-4 Ejection Seat with back plate details (for UMa kit)
From RocKit Studio
Kit No: 480302
1/48th scale
This 1/48th scale, 3D-printed SJU-4 ejection seat plus launching rail & backing plate is the latest release from RocKit. Made in conjunction with the designers at Uma Kit, these are designed to fit as direct replacements for the kit parts. The seat itself has a seat cushion as a separate part, with the pilot's harness in the folded lap position but as a separate part if you want to supply your own harness. Below, you see both sides of the seat, with the pilot's seat, cushion, harness and controls in the rear, all of the SJU-4 ejection seat's mechanical workings inside the rear of the frame.
A close-up of the rear ejection seat rails and rear firewall of the cockpit that these and the mechanism is mounted on in good detail.
Here is the seat and rear launch rail wall in place in the UMA Model cockpit. You can see (It is the lighter-grey part) that it is a direct replacement for the kit parts, but also that a seat like this holds a lot more detail than the kit part.
AV-8B (Movable) Air Intake Dust with Engine Fan Blades (for UMa kit)
From RocKit Studio
Kit No: 480303
1/48th scale
A drop-in replacement for the UMa Model kit part, these 3D-printed air intake, fan blades and movable intake ducts form an interesting combination that lets you move these ducts from open to closed and vice versa.
In this kit you get the 3D-printed intake shroud, the duct doors, the fan blades for the engine, and several magnets (flat and slightly longer) for the opening and closing of the duct doors.
The engine's fan blades are all separate inside the main intake. The only thing they don't do is spin :-)One magnet sits on the duct part, while the others open or close the duct depending on how you position their polarity, pushing or pulling.
This amazing video shows you the opening & closing of the ducts by using the magnets supplied with the kit (make sure you have the video settings at 720P.)
You can see more of these works & RocKit's other aftermarket on their Facebook page.
