The subject: The CT-114 Tutor Snowbird
The Canadair CT-114 Tutor (company model CL-41) is a jet trainer that was designed and produced by Canadian aircraft manufacturer Canadair.
The Tutor’s first flight occurred on January 13, 1960. Following successful testing, the Canadian government placed a substantial order, solidifying its role as the standard jet trainer. A total of 212 CT-114 Tutor aircraft were produced.
The Canadair CT-114 Tutor, a jet trainer developed by Canadair, served as the backbone of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) training programme. It served as the standard jet trainer of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), and later the Canadian Armed Forces, between the early 1960s and 2000.
While primarily used by the RCAF, a limited number of Tutors were exported, including a ground-attack variant for the Royal Malaysian Air Force. The Tutor’s reign as the primary trainer ended in 2000 with the introduction of the CT-155 Hawk and CT-156 Harvard II.
