The Subject:
The Daimler Dingo Mk III, or "Car, Scout, Mark III", was a variation of the widely used British light armoured reconnaissance vehicle produced during World War II, specifically developed to incorporate a waterproofed ignition system. It continued the legacy of the Mark I and II by maintaining a small, two-man crew; a rear-mounted 2.5-litre 55 hp engine; and a distinctive open-top design, with the roof often removed or modified in service to enhance visibility and ease of exit.

Selected from this boxing, this dingo is seen in the summer, with a good photo of the crew and markings on the kit.
Following the success of the earlier Marks, the Mk III was designed for reconnaissance and liaison roles, featuring independent suspension and a fluid flywheel with a pre-selector gearbox that allowed for five speeds in both directions. Although it was heavily armoured for its size (up to 30 mm at the front) and highly manoeuvrable, the Mk III, like its predecessors, relied on a Bren light machine gun for defence and was not intended for frontline combat, serving extensively in North Africa, Italy, and North-west Europe.

Selected from this boxing, these two shots are from the same sequence in NW Europe with a scene reminiscent of the box art.
In addition to the British-made Daimler versions, a distinct, unrelated Australian-produced "Dingo" scout car was manufactured between 1942 and 1943. The Australian Dingo, which was a separate design from the British Mk III, used locally produced ABP-3 armour plating and was powered by a Ford V8 engine, though it suffered from poor performance and was restricted to training roles within Australia.

The Kit:
This kit represents the British Dingo Mk. III Scout Car, a compact and highly manoeuvrable reconnaissance vehicle widely used by Allied forces during WWII. Known for its speed and reliability, the Dingo served in reconnaissance and liaison roles across many theatres of war. The set also includes crew figures, allowing modellers to create dynamic scenes of reconnaissance operations in the field.
