M60A2 Starship
From Italeri
No. #7086
1/72nd scale
Model Length: 10.1 cm
The M60 tank entered service with the U.S. Army in the early 1960s. It was developed and designed as the successor to the renowned M-47 and the later M-48 Patton. The M60 became the main MBT (main battle tank) of the U.S. Army during the Cold War. It was produced until 1983 by the American company Chrysler, with more than 15,000 units built, and was used, in various versions, by the armed forces of numerous countries around the world.

Its main armament consisted of an M68 105 mm gun mounted in the turret. From the original hull, the A2 version was developed, featuring the adoption of a short-barrelled 152 mm gun/launcher capable of firing conventional ammunition or Shillelagh anti-tank missiles, combined with a laser rangefinder. A considerable number of units were produced between 1972 and 1981.

HARRIER GR.3 Winter Camo
From Italeri
No. #91278
1/72nd scale
Model Length: 19.3 cm
The Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.3 is a V/STOL aircraft developed from the airframe of the original Harrier GR.1. The advanced version retained the distinctive propulsion configuration based on the Rolls-Royce Pegasus vectored-thrust turbofan engine but featured enhanced attack capabilities thanks to the adoption of a laser rangefinder for target acquisition and tracking, integrated into the nose.

The Harrier GR.3 could in fact also employ more modern and advanced laser-guided weapons. Its great operational flexibility can be summed up by its ability to operate in winter conditions from improvised bases, with short take-off runways and airfield infrastructure established in a short period of time. In this way, the Harrier could operate in close proximity to ground troops and very near a potential front line.

The Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) was one of the main light tanks employed by Germany at the beginning of the Second World War. Designed and produced in Czechoslovakia by ČKD, it was widely used by the Wehrmacht following the German occupation of the country in March 1939. A light and fast armoured vehicle, it proved ideal for the role of combat tank in support of the fast-moving German units during the early stages of the conflict. The armour was made of bolted plates, while the main armament consisted of a 37 mm gun mounted in the turret, suitable for engaging the enemy armoured vehicles of the period.

The Subject:
The Macchi M.C. 202 Folgore Early Series (primarily Serie I through III) debuted in 1941 to provide the Italian Regia Aeronautica with a modern, high-performance fighter capable of matching contemporary Allied aircraft. Brainchild of designer Mario Castoldi, the Folgore utilised the proven wing and tail structures of the earlier M.C. 200 but wrapped them in a beautifully streamlined fuselage engineered around a liquid-cooled inline engine. This powerplant was the Alfa Romeo RA.1000 R.C.41-1 Monsone, a meticulously license-built copy of Germany's Daimler-Benz DB 601Aa.
The early-production airframes were sleek and agile, boasting a top speed of 600 km/h and featuring self-sealing fuel cells alongside an enclosed cockpit. Despite its excellent handling, the aircraft was dangerously under-armed; the earliest blocks relied exclusively on two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns mounted in the upper cowl. Visually, these introductory models are identified by their unarmored windscreens, the absence of a radio mast, and a lack of sub-wing plumbing or structural hardpoints.

Two members of the 31st Fighter Group groundcrew are manually cracking a Breda-built C.202 MM.91825, 356-6, as a third sits in the cockpit.
As Italy's wartime demands intensified, latter versions (such as Serie VII through XI) underwent targeted upgrades to resolve the fighter's lack of hitting power and inadequate defensive protection. The most significant combat enhancement came with the integration of two wing-mounted 7.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, complementing the existing cowl weapons to finally give the Folgore a four-gun layout.

The Macchi C.202 in the National Air and Space Museum is one of only two remaining in the world.
To protect pilots from head-on engagements and tail-chasing fire, later variants added a thick, bulletproof armoured windscreen and reinforced steel plating behind the cockpit seat. External configurations evolved as well: later production runs standardise a prominent radio antenna mast behind the canopy, added underwing racks to carry external fuel drop tanks or light bombs (standardised by Serie XI), and introduced specialised tropicalized dust filters (M.C. 202 AS) to prevent the engine from choking in the harsh sands of North Africa.

Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master
From Italeri
No #1480
1/72nd scale
100% new mould kit
Photo-etch included
Five marking choices in the box
Available in the first weeks of November
The Subject:
The Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master emerged from a joint venture in the 1990s between Italy’s Aermacchi and Russia’s Yakovlev, which originally sought to create a unified next-generation trainer. When the partnership dissolved, Aermacchi independently developed the design into the M-346, heavily modifying the airframe to incorporate advanced Western avionics, fly-by-wire flight control systems, and dual Honeywell F124-GA-200 turbofan engines. First taking flight in 2004, the aircraft was engineered specifically to bridge the widening training gap between traditional intermediate trainers and complex fifth-generation frontline fighters like the F-35 Lightning II.

Alenia Aermacchi T-346A Master 61-04 in 2015.
Beyond its primary role as an advanced lead-in fighter trainer, the M-346 has proven itself to be a highly versatile multi-role platform. Renamed the M-346 Fighter Attack (FA), the variant features an integrated tactical radar and wingtip missile rails, allowing it to execute light combat, air policing, and close air support missions cost-effectively.

Operated as a demonstrator by Leonardo. this Master is seen departing after taking part in the 2017 Royal International Air Tattoo. RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire, UK.
Today, the platform operates successfully across the globe, serving the air forces of Italy, Israel, Poland, and Singapore, cementing its status as one of the most capable advanced trainers in modern military aviation.
