Three new sets are available for Scale Model Challenge from Mantis Miniatures...

Mantis Miniatures' new sets of October are in time for the Scale Model Challenge (SMC) 2026. These new releases focus heavily on detailed, civilian and historical vignettes sculpted by P. Szymczyk and Jean-marie Danel. This lineup introduces diverse narrative scenes to the market, ranging from rustic traditional agricultural labour to (a bit of harmless) wartime civil resistance.

Ploughing (the set contains 2 figures, a donkey & a plough)
From Mantis Miniatures
3D printed in resin
Kit No #35223
1/35th scale
Sculpted by P.Szymczyk
Colour visualisations by AI
This 1/35th scale set is digitally sculpted by P.Szymczyk and manufactured completely from 3D-printed grey resin. The release is structured as an all-in-one vignette bundling together two human figures, a draught animal, and the necessary agricultural machinery to depict a traditional, labour-intensive farming operation.
The scene captures an elderly rural couple engaging in hard manual labour in a field. An elderly woman dressed in a long skirt, apron, and traditional headscarf walks in front, holding a rope to guide a working donkey. Behind them, an elderly man in a cap and heavy work jacket grips a single-share agricultural plough, straining to keep the blade steady as it cuts a furrow through the heavy mud. The kit highlights realistic mechanical details, including the animal’s harness setup and the physical chain links tethering the donkey directly to the plough assembly.

Goose Girl and 5 Geese
From Mantis Miniatures
Kit No #35220
3D printed in resin
Set includes:
35221 Shepherdess
35222 Animals Set 67 (Geese)
MAC69 Country Tools
This release serves as a comprehensive diorama bundle, grouping three individual items from the manufacturer's catalogue into a single package.
The set is built around the European Shepherdess figure (Kit No. 35221) and the Animals Set 67 Geese pack (Kit No. 35222), both of which were digitally sculpted by P.Szymczyk.
Additionally, the bundle incorporates country tools from the MAC69 accessory set to provide modellers with all the loose elements needed to build a detailed, self-contained rural vignette.
The scene depicts a young, barefoot European peasant girl herding a small flock of five geese down a dirt path next to a thatched cottage. The girl wears a laced bodice, a long layered skirt, and a headscarf, holding a small wooden switch in one hand while using her other hand to bunch up her apron. The five birds are sculpted in various lifelike, energetic poses—one flaps its wings aggressively, another pecks at the ground, and others waddle ahead, creating a dynamic sense of movement that mimics real animal behaviour.

Minor Sabotage
Kit No #35224
1/35th scale
Sculpted by: Jean-marie Danel
Painted by: Weida Li
Moving away from agricultural themes, this historical vignette is sculpted by Jean-Marie Danel and features official box art painted by Weida Li. Unlike the other releases, this set focuses purely on the characters and their immediate gear; the structural background elements like the stone wall, sidewalk, and iron gate shown in the promotional images are not included in the box. Modellers will need to scratch-build or purchase a separate architectural base to recreate the full display.
The kit depicts a stealthy act of civil defiance carried out by two young boys during a wartime occupation. One boy stands on his tiptoes with a small metal bucket in his left hand, using his right hand to paint a large resistance symbol onto a dark wall. His companion stands directly behind him, acting as a lookout, bending forward to peer cautiously around a heavy wrought-iron gateway to ensure no authorities are approaching. The poses work together to create a tense narrative of youthful rebellion and high-stakes teamwork.

Those who cannot get these directly from SMC can pick them up at the MBK Model shop

These will also be available right from Mantis Miniatures at the Scale Model Challenge; they will also be available soon from their Distributors Worldwide...
