Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B
by Trumpeter
Kit No. 05846
1/48th scale
The Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B stood as a masterclass in British low-level aviation design, serving as the RAF’s premier maritime strike and tactical bomber during the twilight of the Cold War. Derived from its naval predecessor, this rugged variant was uniquely modified with a bulged internal bomb bay door and structural reinforcements to withstand the relentless, high-speed turbulence of tree-top operations. Powered by dual Rolls-Royce Spey turbofans, the aircraft possessed an iconic, teardrop-shaped area-ruled fuselage that reduced aerodynamic drag, giving it unparalleled stability at near-sonic speeds while flying beneath enemy radar networks.

By the time the aircraft reached its ultimate operational test in the 1991 Gulf War, the ageing platform proved to be an indispensable asset for coalition forces. Re-painted in a distinctive "desert pink" camouflage, the Buccaneers were deployed to Iraq to provide precision laser targeting for the younger Panavia Tornado fleet, which lacked advanced targeting pods at the start of the campaign. Flying dozens of high-stakes missions, the Buccaneer crews illuminated hardened structures, bridges, and runways with their Pave Spike pods before eventually dropping their own laser-guided ordnance. The type's exceptional reliability and performance during Operation Granby cemented its legacy as one of the most effective strike platforms in the history of the Royal Air Force.

USS Midway CV-41
by Trumpeter
Kit No. 06754
1/700th scale
USS Midway (CV-41) was a legendary United States Navy aircraft carrier that served as the lead ship of her class for an extraordinary 47 years (1945–1992). Commissioned on 10 September 1945—just eight days after the official end of World War II—she was the world's largest warship until 1955 and the first American carrier built too wide to transit the Panama Canal. Celebrated for her longevity, she adapted seamlessly from the piston-engine era to the age of supersonic jets, ultimately transitioning into a famous floating museum.

Decommissioned in 1992 and stricken from the Navy list in 1997, the vessel found a permanent home in California. In June 2004, she opened at Navy Pier in downtown San Diego as the USS Midway Museum. Today, she stands as one of the world's most visited historic ship museums, allowing the public to explore her flight deck, island superstructure, and extensive aircraft collection
