These are the Tamiya Tyres - Rubber is too soft, they pick up dust like no one's business and the hard to remove seam doesn't help. No fun at all.
Barracuda Studios
is proud to announce the release of 5 new products in the BarracudaCast resin
detail set line. These sets are now up on the website and available for
pre-order. Shipping will begin on Friday, June 8th.
These sets are intended for the superb new Tamiya P-51D
Mustang in 1/32nd scale, but will improve any kit of any variant of the P-51
family, including the A-36 Apache and all of the Allison engined Mustangs as
well. The first 4 sets consist of resin tires in 4 different tread patterns to
replace the soft rubber tires found in the Tamiya kit. For those not building
the Tamiya Mustang, we also offer a separate set of resin wheel hubs matched to
these new tires that will allow their use with any kit of the Mustang in this
scale.
These new tyres have been thoroughly researched and matched to period photos
of real tire patterns on Mustangs flying in WWII. Thanks to Mustang expert
Christian Alamy for his help in the researching of these new products.
BR32029 1/32 P-51 Mustang Diamond Tread Tires
This set contains new, more accurate diamond tread tires
that directly replace the tires in the Tamiya kit. The problem with the soft
vinyl tires in the kit is that the seams are very difficult to remove, and they
tend to attract dirt and dust. These seamless resin parts have superb tread
detail, with 7 diamonds in a single row to match the period photos, and are
both sandable and paintable.
Four styles are available, and you can even mix
and match them, as was common practice on the real aircraft. For modellers
building an A-36 Apache or P-51A,B,C,D or K from Hasegawa, Trumpeter, Dragon,
Hobbycraft or Monogram, you will need our resin wheel hubs 32034 as well.
BR32030 1/32 P-51 Mustang Oval Tread Pattern Tires
This set contains new oval tread pattern tires that directly
replace the tires in the Tamiya kit. The problem with the soft vinyl tires in
the kit is that the seams are very difficult to remove, and they tend to
attract dirt and dust. These seamless resin parts have superb tread detail
based on wartime photos of real tires including the very subtle ovals on the
sidewalls, and are both sandable and paintable.
