Part IV - The Application of the Decals

With the paint cured the next step was to spray several coats of Klear to prepare the model for the application of the decals. When I was satisfied with the Klear I gave the whole airframe a good polishing with Mastercaster polishing blocks.

For a limited run kit the decals were a breeze to work with and coped well with Micro Sol and Micro Set. When applying the larger decals, such as the yellow squares, care must be taken as the decals are so thin it is easy for them to curl back on themselves.

However Tarangus have supplied enough spares to cope with any issues. The large roundels needed quite a bit of Micro Sol/Set to get them to sit down properly. With patience though the roundels finally behaved and settled into place.

Overall i was very pleased with the way the decals performed, the thinness of which reminded me of Cartograf decals.

Once all the decals were on and dry the model was given a further two coats of Klear to protect the decals from the weathering

We are nearly in the home stretch now, just the weathering and assemble of the final parts to go.
