Hobbyboss' two new releases for May give us something work on...

A popular version of "the whistling death" and one of the more controversial weapons of recent times are the subjects of Hobbyboss' May releases. We have box art, sprues, marking, decals and everything else inside the boxes of these kits in our new item preview.

Hobbyboss' new releases for May...

Corsair MK.Ⅲ
Model kit no: #80396
1:48th scale
Designated the F3A-1 / F3A-1D  and called the Corsair Mk III by the Fleet Air Arm, this was the designation for Brewster-built F4U-1. Labour troubles delayed production, and the US Navy ordered the company's contract terminated; they folded soon after. Poor quality wing fittings meant that these aircraft were red-lined for speed and prohibited from aerobatics after several lost their wings.

Marking choices of this kit
None of the Brewster-built Corsairs reached front line units. 430 Brewster Corsairs (334 F3A-1 and 96 F3A-1D), more than half of Brewster's total production, were delivered to the UK's Fleet Air Arm.

DPRK Pukguksong-2
Model no: #84544
1/35th scale
Pukkuksong-2 (Korean: 북극성2형 北極星2号 , Polaris 2) also known as KN-15 by intelligence outside of North Korea, is a medium-range or intermediate-range ballistic missile under development by North Korea, which unlike the nation's earlier designs, uses solid fuel. Described as 'nuclear-capable', its first test flight was on 12 February 2017. The state-run KCNA news agency said that leader Kim Jong-un supervised the test, which was described as a success.

Decals for the instruments are included
Masks for the vehicle's windows are also inside the box.
Deployed in northern North Korea near the border with China in missile bases where Hwasong-7 is deployed. The missile is canister launched from its enclosed transport container. It uses a 'cold-launching' system, which starts using compressed gas, followed by the engine igniting in mid-flight. The container is a smooth cylinder inside, without rails, and on launch, a series of slipper blocks could be seen to fall away from the missile. These act as bearings while the missile is projected through the close-fitting tube, a system first seen with the US Peacekeeper. A series of grid fins are deployed at the base of the missile to provide aerodynamic stability during flight. The transporter erector launcher (TEL) is a new design, conceptually similar to the Russian 2P19 TEL of the R-17M Elbrus SS-1 Scud-B; fully tracked and claimed to be of indigenous Korean manufacture, rather than previous Chinese wheeled launchers, derivatives of the ubiquitous MAZ-543 design.
