The Subject: The U.S. M55 Quad Mount Machine Guns:
Coupled with the M20 trailer, the M45 gun mount was designated the M55. IT was used for both anti-aircraft & anti-personnel duties in the Korean War in the 50s.

Nicknamed the "meat chopper" and "Krautmower" for its high rate of fire, the latter M55 version saw extensive use in the conflict in Korea & the Vietnam War. Which is where most modellers will know this gun and its mount from.

M55 Machine Gun Trailer Mount "Bad News".
The M55 received a new, more powerful generator in the 1960s and served through the Vietnam War, usually mounted in the back of an M35 2.5 ton or M54 5-ton gun trucks when not on the trailer.
The gun system is operated by two loaders and one gunner. The mount is capable of traversing a full 360 degrees around, with an angle of elevation between -10 and +90 degrees. Traverse and elevation are electrically driven, powered by two rechargeable 6-volt batteries. All four guns could be fired at once, but standard practice was to alternate between firing the upper and lower pair of guns, allowing one pair to cool while the other was in use. This allowed for longer periods of action as overheating of the gun barrels was lessened.

The new kit from Dynamo Models:
Inside of the box you can find a highly detailed plastic kit in injection moulded plastic. The kit (which is based on the Dragon Models kit) includes  photo-etch and 3D printed parts to make either the WW2 M45 version or the Vietnam M55 version of the Quad Mount.

Both WWII & Vietnam versions can be made from this kit.
The kit comes with four marking choices in the box, no doubt, guided by the AMMO team that this kit is made in conjunction with and printed by Cartograf.
This product is currently in pre-order. The kit will be available in march for a price of  32,95€. from this link on the Dynamo Models Website.
