A new stewardess & serviceman for your VW + a helmet set from Mantis Miniatures.

This month from Mantis Miniatures there is a new 35th scale PASGT helmet with field camo. Set in 2 sizes for a better fit to any heads in 1/35 scale. The set contains 12 helmets, 6 different designs in 2 sizes. Helmets without interiors.
Also, there is either a pair of singles or a set of two Lufthansa stewardess and a mechanic/ground crew from the 1960s. Figures were inspired by and dedicated to the AK Interactive VW Airport version. We have photos of the CAD designs to be 3D printed, plus the photos that inspired them, in our preview...

A centrepiece of this idea is this stewardess from the 60s era. Short skirt with high heels, a hat with a tightly cut jacket/blouse. Some great photos below show the inspiration for the sculpt that the talented Artur Miniszewski fell upon. This is another great idea from Mantis Miniatures.

One figure in this kit.

Price 17€
This 1/35th scale Lufthansa serviceman is seen in an overall that could put him in many a place in this century, but this one comes with equipment! Wooden chocks and aircraft signalling batons (a choice of either) are provided in the kit. He is 3D printed and will be ready to paint as soon as you choose what he is carrying.
You can see the Lufthansa logo on the back, embroidered in his overalls, but printed on this figure in 35th scale.

 Lufthansa Airport Crew, 1960s.

Kit No #35207
1/35th scale
Two figures are in this set.
3D printed in resin
Price 32€
These two figures are sold together as a set for a slightly cheaper price. Both were created with the AK Interactive 35th scale VW Airport van from the same era in mind as a backdrop. Indeed, this would be a great backing to anchor them in place and in time.
The figures, here in CAD form, show how they relate to each other in a scene together. Both are roughly the same age and of the same era. One could imagine them somewhere on an airfield, probably German, in the 1960s or early 70s.
The serviceman is seen with his ear defenders on, holding (either) a pair of chocks or aircraft signal batons. The stewardess is seen holding her carry-on bag, both tools of the trade for these workers.
Skirting around back, we see this is a young couple or workers, both in the fit days of their prime. Ohh, the memories...

 PASGT Helmets Field Camo
From Mantis Miniatures

Kit No #MAC61
1/35th scale

Price: 17€
The PASGT (Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops) was a combat helmet and ballistic vest utilised by the United States military from the early 1980s until the early-to-mid 2000s. During this period, the helmet and vest were gradually phased out, replaced by more advanced protective gear—the Lightweight Helmet (LWH), the Modular Integrated Communications Helmet (MICH), and the Interceptor Body Armor (IBA).

Some example photos of troops with these helmets in war and on operations.
Originally conceived in the mid-1970s as an upgrade to the M1 helmet and earlier fragmentation vests, PASGT underwent testing in the late 1970s before being officially introduced in the early 1980s. By the early-to-mid 2000s, the PASGT vest was largely supplanted by the IBA, while the PASGT helmet was eventually succeeded by the LWH and MICH.

A few variations of this helmet cover
As of 2018, PASGT remained in limited use within the U.S. military. The U.S. Army Reserve continued employing it in some capacity, while the U.S. Navy maintained the PASGT helmet for sailors stationed aboard warships. Additionally, the Navy utilised a modified version of the PASGT vest, referred to as the "U.S. Navy Flak Jacket.
There are twelve helmets in this set that are slightly different, either in density, pattern or "foliage" of the material on the helmet. Two even have goggles on them, just like in the photos above. These helmets come in two sizes, we are thinking as some figures have slightly larger or smaller heads.

These are available right now from Mantis Miniatures; they will also be available soon from their distributors worldwide...
