The Dingo 2 is a mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicle, an evolution of the Dingo 1, and named after a native dog of Australia. It is designed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and based on an enhanced Unimog U5000 chassis. This upgrade offers better protection and increased payload compared to its predecessor. The Dingo 2 is available in short and long wheelbase versions, accommodating 4 or 7 occupants depending on the wheelbase.

Powered by a 215 hp diesel engine, the Dingo 2 features a central tyre inflation system and a V-shaped hull with an armoured crew compartment. Its armour provides protection against landmines, small arms fire, and artillery shell fragments, with the option to add extra armour panels. Equipped with an NBC protection system, the vehicle uses a remotely controlled weapon station, mounting machine guns of varying calibres or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher. This weapon station is also utilised in the Fennek armoured reconnaissance vehicle. it has an elevating mast with long-range optoelectronic sensors at the rear for tactical battlefield reconnaissance. Reconnaissance can be carried out with a daylight camera and a thermal imager for night use. The protected stowage box at the rear for carrying reconnaissance equipment can be replaced with an empty stowage box to accommodate other equipment pieces in the field.
