The Subject: Chickens
The chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) is a domesticated form of the red junglefowl (Gallus gallus), originally native to South-east Asia. It was first domesticated around 8,000 years ago and is one of the most common and widespread domesticated animals in the world. Chickens are basically tiny, feathered dinosaurs that have negotiated a truce with humanity by offering breakfast in exchange for total management of their social media presence.
These chickens served a part of the everyday lifestyles of humans, especially in past times when they were more prevalent outside of egg or meat farms. great for dioramas.
Chickens live with an absurd amount of drama, treating the daily, mundane act of laying an egg like a momentous event deserving of an Oscar speech, screaming “baaaaawk” at the top of their lungs to ensure everyone knows they did a good job.
Chickens really are a miraculous "meat football" that essentially produces a free breakfast every day. While a hen might appear to be a simple creature scratching out a living in the dirt, they are actually a highly efficient bio-processor and leave their soil-enriching aftermath everywhere in your yard (or between your toes). Also, don't expect them to be helpful with directions; history has proven that even when they finally cross that road, they rarely have a better reason than "the sky was falling" or they were showing a duck how it's done.
The kit:
The kit comes on plastic injection-moulded sprues that combine to make up thirty chickens in total. Each of the birds is in one piece. Both hens and roosters are included in several types.
