Russian Mi-171Sh Hip
by Trumpeter
Kit No. 05855
1/48th scale
The Mi-171Sh helicopter was engineered specifically for combat operations within localised armed conflicts. Its design features a five-bladed main rotor, a tail rotor, and non-retractable tricycle nose-wheel landing gear. The glassed-in cockpit is configured to accommodate a three-person crew, while the cabin provides capacity for up to 36 troops or 12 casualties on stretchers. Equipped with advanced avionics and instrumental systems, the aircraft is capable of all-weather, day-and-night operations.

Combat survivability is enhanced through armour plating over the crew cabin and critical components, alongside infrared suppression exhaust mixer boxes that minimise the engine's thermal signature. Furthermore, the helicopter incorporates an infrared decoy dispensing system to counter infrared-homing surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles. Additional protective measures include self-sealing fuel tank covers and polyurethane foam insulation, which mitigate the risks of fuel explosions and leakage following combat damage.

Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.N - Tunisia
by Trumpeter
Kit No. 00957
1/16th scale
The Panzer III was a German medium tank developed in the 1930s and used extensively during World War II. Officially designated as the Panzerkampfwagen III Sd Kfz. 141 (abbreviated PzKpfw III), which translates to "armoured fighting vehicle", it was originally designed to engage enemy tanks while operating alongside the infantry-support Panzer IV. However, when German forces encountered the formidable Soviet T-34, they realised the need for more powerful anti-tank guns.

Because the Panzer IV had a larger turret ring, it was better suited to mount the long-barrelled 7.5 cm KwK 40 gun, reversing their intended roles. The Panzer IV then took over tank-to-tank combat duties, while the Panzer III became obsolete in its original role and was largely replaced by the Panzer IV. From 1942 onward, the final versions of the Panzer III were equipped with the 7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24 gun, which was more effective for infantry support. Although production of the Panzer III ended in 1943, its reliable chassis continued to serve as the basis for the Sturmgeschütz III assault gun until the war's conclusion.
