Russian T-14 Armata MBT Mod. 2022
by Trumpeter
Kit No. 09615
1/35th scale
The Russian T-14 Armata Main Battle Tank Mod. 2022 represents a critical, wartime-driven evolution of Russia's next-generation armoured platform. Originally designed with a radical layout that isolates its three-man crew inside a heavily armoured capsule in the forward hull, this variant completely separates the operators from the unmanned, remote-controlled turret. Building upon that base, the Mod.2022 modification incorporates extensive battlefield lessons from recent deployments. This specific version directly addresses the vulnerabilities of modern asymmetric warfare, featuring a stealth-shaped chassis, revised sensor placement, and enhanced defensive capabilities specifically tailored to counter threats like first-person view drones and advanced anti-tank weapons.

Beyond physical armour upgrades, the defining characteristic of the Mod.2022 is the comprehensive overhaul of its electronic systems and internal architecture, which was largely driven by the necessity of replacing restricted foreign parts. To facilitate domestic manufacturing, engineers prioritised the substitution of imported components with localised electronics and microchips. The modification also includes fine-tuned combat coordination software, extra dynamic side-flank protection, and optimised thermal signatures to limit battlefield detection. While industrial constraints continue to limit large-scale production, the Mod.2022 serves as the primary blueprint for transitioning the complex vehicle into a more sustainable, combat-ready platform.

USS Langley CV-1
by Trumpeter
Kit No. 06723
1/700th scale
The USS Langley (CV-1) was the United States Navy's first official aircraft carrier, converted from the Collier Jupiter beginning in June 1919. Officially commissioned into active duty in March 1922, this pioneering vessel marked the true birth of American naval aviation. Throughout the 1920s and early 1930s, the Langley served as an invaluable floating laboratory, hosting critical tactical training, deck-landing exercises, and fleet manoeuvres. The operational data gathered on her flight deck provided the essential foundation for early carrier doctrine and trained the first generation of skilled US naval aviators.

In 1936, as newer and faster fleet carriers joined the ranks, the Langley was reclassified and converted into a seaplane tender (AV-3). Despite her support role, she was thrust into the front lines of World War II following the outbreak of the Pacific War. On 27 February 1942, while executing a critical mission to transport P-40 fighter planes to the Allied stronghold of Java, she was intercepted and severely damaged by Japanese land-based attack aircraft. To prevent her capture or further hazard to the convoy, the historic vessel was scuttled by her escorting destroyers, ending her twenty-year legacy of naval service.
