1/35th scale Soviet T-37 Amphibious Light Tank – Early
The T-37 was a Soviet amphibious light tank that was first created in 1932. Based on the British Vickers tankette and other operational amphibious tanks the T-37 was the first series of mass-produced fully amphibious tanks in the world.

In the Red Army they were used to perform tasks in communication, reconnaissance, and as defence units on the march, as well as active infantry support on the battlefield. The T-37 was used in large numbers during the Soviet invasion of Poland and in the Winter War against Finland. The T-37 was also used by the Soviets in the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, but most of them were quickly lost due to their lack of protection and offensive weapons. Surviving tanks of that type fought on the front lines until 1944, and were used in training and auxiliary defence until the end of World War II.

Kit: 3525 - 1:350th scale - Russian Navy Akula Class Attack Submarine

Project 971 Щука-Б (Shchuka-B, 'Shchuka' meaning pike, NATO reporting name "Akula"), is a nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) first deployed by the Soviet Navy in 1986. The class is sometimes erroneously called the "Bars" class, after one of its members. Note that Akula ("shark") is the Soviet designation of the ballistic missile submarine class designated by NATO as the Typhoon class submarine.

There are three sub-classes or flights of "Shchuka", consisting of the original seven "Akula I" submarines which were built between 1982 and 1986, five "Improved Akula" submarines were built between 1986 and 1991, and four "Akula II" submarines were built from 1991. This information is disputed, however, as the distinction between the Improved Akula and the Akula II class is debated by authoritative sources. The Russians simply call all of the submarines Schuka-B, regardless of modifications, and it is rumoured that no two are alike.

Kit: 81722 - 1:48th scale Northrop USAF YF-23

The Northrop/McDonnell Douglas YF-23 was a prototype fighter aircraft designed for the United States Air Force. The YF-23 was a finalist in the U.S. Air Force's Advanced Tactical Fighter competition.  The YF-23 lost the contest to the Lockheed YF-22, which entered production as the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.

The YF-23 was designed to meet USAF requirements for survivability, supersonic cruise (supercruise), stealth, and ease of maintenance. Designed with all-aspect stealth as a high priority. The YF-23 was an unconventional-looking aircraft with trapezoidal wings, substantial area-ruling, and a V-tail. Similar to the B-2, the exhaust from the YF-23's engines flows through troughs lined with heat ablating tiles, which shields the exhaust from infrared (IR) missile detection from below. The wing flaps and ailerons deflect inversely on either side to provide roll. Pitch was provided by movement of both V-tails, and yaw was supplied by opposite movement. Deflecting the wing flaps down and ailerons up on both sides simultaneously provided for aerodynamic braking.

The Renault R35 was a French light infantry tank of the Second World War. Designed from 1933 and produced from 1936, the type was intended as a light infantry support tank, equipping autonomous tank battalions that would be allocated to individual infantry divisions to assist them in executing offensive operations. To this end it was relatively well-armoured but slow and lacking a good antitank-capacity, fitted with a short 37 mm gun. At the outbreak of the war, the antitank-role was more emphasized leading to the development and eventual production from April 1940 of a subtype with a more powerful longer gun, the Renault R40. It was planned to shift new production capacity to the manufacture of other, faster, types, but due to the defeat of France the R35/40 remained the most numerous French tank of the war, about 1685 vehicles having been produced in June 1940. At that moment it had also been exported to Poland, Romania, Turkey and Yugoslavia. For the remainder of the war Germany and its allies would use captured vehicles, some of them rebuilt into tank destroyers.

Originally designed for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the former Soviet Union, the aircraft was soon adopted by the Soviet Air Force and built for its client states. It is ideally suited to less developed countries because it requires little maintenance and is easy to fly.

The second vehicle, the Ausf F, was as different from the Ausf C as it was from the Ausf A and B. Intended as an infantry support tank, the Panzer I Ausf F had a maximum armour thickness of 80 millimeters (3.15 in) and weighed between 18 and 21 tonnes. The Ausf F was armed with two 7.92-millimeter MG-34s. Thirty were produced in 1940, and a second order of 100 was later canceled. In order to compensate for the increased weight, a new 150 horsepower (110 kW) Maybach HL45 Otto engine was used, allowing a maximum road speed of 25 kilometers per hour (15.5 mph). Eight of the thirty tanks produced were sent to the 1 Panzer Division in 1943 and saw combat at the Battle of Kursk. The rest were given to several army schools for training and evaluation purposes.

The continued development of the reconnaissance tank concept by the Germans led to the much up-armoured Ausf. J, which used the same concept as the PzKpfw IF of the same period, under the experimental designation VK1601.
Heavier armour was added, bringing protection up to 80 mm on the front and 50 mm to the sides and rear, with 25 mm roof and floor plates, increasing total weight to 18 tons. Equipped with the same Maybach HL45P as the PzKpfw IF, top speed was reduced to 31 km/h. Primary armament was the 2 cm KwK38 L/55 gun. 22 were produced by MAN between April and December 1942, and seven were issued to the 12th Panzer Division on the Eastern Front.

The legendary steam locomotive BR 86 was designed to a 1925 specification for a 15-ton axle loading for use on all branch lines, especially in hilly and mountainous countryside. These locomotives showed a remarkable uniformity in construction when compared to previous types, which had been manufactured to “regional” designs, leading to problems with maintenance and spare parts. The standardization of parts and components solved these problems. The first examples of the BR86 were produced by MGB Karlsruhe locomotive works in 1928 and last machine was manufactured in 1943 as interim war locomotive version.
The BR 86 holds the record in Germany for the longest production run of any locomotive ever manufactured, with a total of 776 built. From 1939, these locomotives also saw service in Austria, Poland and the Soviet Union. After WW II, the Czechoslovak State Railway operated these locomotives, from a total of 65 locomotives seized as war prizes and reparation. They saw service until the 1960’s, when most were phased out of regular service.

The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil ("Arrow") was a World War II heavy fighter built by the Dornier company. The Pfeil's performance was much better than other twin-engine designs due to its unique "push-pull" layout and the much lower drag of the in-line alignment of the two motors. The Luftwaffe was desperate to get the design into operational use, but delays in engine deliveries meant only a handful was delivered before the war ended.
This is one of the very simple kits from HobbyBoss that could well be not only a simple build but a good beginner’s tool in modelling.

Because of the concerns of the new fighters of the enemy, the Germany Air Force put out a requirement for a new fighter to replace the Bf-109. The design of the Dr. Kurt Tank finally became the Fw-190 which was regard as one of the best fighters of WWII. The first “Wurgers” were radial engined but a new design calling for better performance at altitude led to the redesign of the forward fuselage to incorporate a Junkers Jumo engine. The Fw-190D is the inline-engine model of the family and type D-9 were the first which put into combat of the series. The new engine made the Fw-190D-9 an excellent interceptor, to contain the inline-engine the nose of the fuselage is longer than the radial engine model as well as a fillet being added in the tail to even out the weight distribution.

It is said that the Brewster F2A Buffalo might be the worst fighter of the USA during the WWII for they showed no thing super in their performance when facing the Japanese fighter such as the A6M Zeros and Ki-43 Hayabusas. Almost all the F2A were knocked out by the end of 1942.On the other hand, some of the European Air Force won their victories with the Buffalo, - most notably the Finnish pilots who claimed 496 Soviet planes down for the amazing few loss of just 19 Buffaloes!

Hobbyboss Products from January 2013

Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf.E, a name that was often shortened to simply "Tiger". It was an answer to the unexpectedly formidable Soviet armour encountered in the initial months of the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union, particularly the T-34 and the KV-1. The Tiger I is the first tank mounting the 88 mm gun, in its initial armoured fighting vehicle-dedicated version, which in its Flak version had previously demonstrated its effectiveness against both air and ground targets.
Markings:
During the course of the war, the Tiger I saw combat on all German battlefronts. It was usually deployed in independent tank battalions, which proved to be quite formidable. While the Tiger I was feared by many of its opponents, it was over-engineered, used expensive and labour intensive materials and production methods, and was time-consuming to produce. Only 1,347 were built between August 1942 and August 1944.
